As the Poet Said…

February 11th, 2009 · No Comments

This past Jan 25 was the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns. In “To A Mouse”, the poet has a prescient warning for our Democrat/Socialist Overlords, and sums up how many of us feel right about now:

“The best laid schemes o’ Mice an’ Men,
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

Still, thou art blest, compar’d wi’ me!
The present only toucheth thee:
But Och! I backward cast my e’e,
On prospects drear!
An’ forward, tho’ I canna see,
I guess an’ fear! “

Aye, I guess and fear.
